What Have I Been Doing Lately? Winging It Duh.

Since my last post about falling down the stairs, not much has happened. I turned 26, I started working towards a Lactation Consultant Certification, I fell out of the shower, and I picked up Alcohol Ink Art and Photography. You know the usual stuff.

I’m fine, the water in the shower at the hotel we were at was just SUPER hot and I jumped back and well…water is slippery so you get the rest.

Have I ever done alcohol ink or “professional” photography before? Nope, but I have a lot of time on my hands, so why not teach myself?! What can go wrong?????? You can get your hands and everything you own covered in resin… Oh wait that was supposed to be a hypothetical question. Right, moving on.

Here’s the thing, it’s hard to write on this thing when I haven’t had much to write about, so I picked up some loose hobbies to entertain myself and now they’re kind of making me money, so I can’t complain.

So back to the whole teaching myself thing, the internet is a lovely place. Over the past few months, I’ve done a ton of research and taught myself some basics and the rest has just been trial and error. I have also been fortunate enough to have some help and guidance from some wonderful friends when I can’t find the answers on the Google machine- Abbigail Craine and Griffin Harrington to name a few.

Both of these hobbies have helped bring in funds while I’ve been searching for a nursing job. There isn’t a NICU here, and where I could work, has no openings for what I want to do. Now, yes there is a “shortage” of nurses, but working in the NICU never felt like a job to me. I loved everything about it, and I know myself and I know how nursing is, and I know how hospitals can be ran. I am not just going to jump into another form of nursing because I need a job, because I know it will cause me to resent nursing. I work well with really sick babies and that’s that. I’m going to have to be patient, and in the meantime, I have a coaching job and two other small forms of income that offer me a creative outlet. I’ll live.
